![]() ![]() By default it doesn't grab the 2 channel audio, so you'll have to change that config if stereo audio is important to you. I have a feeling they're going to do away with the free version at some point and want all the copies in the field to expire. MakeMKV has some interesting licensing which requires you to install a new copy every few months so take that into account. It's very quick and produces some great quality, though large, output files. I ended up using a common method and breaking it into two jobs. I spent about a month trying different methods to figure out what gave the best picture, the most compatible output, and had the easiest process. Its much better to spend the time tinkering and go with higher quality than to try and be quick or save space and regret it latter and have to redo the whole process. ![]() Find some high quality settings and double check they produce the output quality needed. Even with only 1 DVD drive in the beginning I could rip 6-10 disks a night.Īs others have said use Handbrake for the conversion to H264/H265 itself and use the queue function. So I would tell them to find a routine where they can be near the computer they are ripping to and where its not going to be an issue to stop every 10-20 minutes to switch disks. forgetting about it and coming back half and hour later. In my experience the biggest thing that made everything going faster was having a routine where as soon as a rip was done I would be right there an switch out disks immediately vs. I ripped my entire DVD/Blu ray collection (probably around 1k discs) and internal or full sized DVD/Bluray drives are much faster than some of the slim/travel drives that can be powered by USB. I will say if you get a DVD/Bluray drive make sure it has its own power source and is not a slim version. ![]() Is it even worth it anymore at this point? Can't you rip most anything with MakeMKV now-a-days for free basically? Or is there something that makes AnyDVD HD stand out? The movies I want to rip though are blu-rays that are over a year old and probably would still work with the old Slysoft versions of AnyDVD HD, I'm guessing. I think that is about what I paid the first time though and not excited to do so again. Looks like RedFox does have a lifetime license, even on sale until Jan 2, for ~US$90. ![]() There are a few things I can't find though and so I was looking into ripping them off my own discs instead. I probably wouldn't either for full subtitles, but even forced subs that you need to watch a movie are usually at best loaded with errors and sometimes barely legible. =/ The only annoying thing I've found with this method is that groups seem to be completely oblivious to how shitty the subtitles they include are, or I guess they just don't care. The process of putting in 100s of DVDs and blu-rays and manually ripping them with AnyDVD HD and then encoding with handbrake just wasn't appealing. Nope, honestly I thought of ripping my 1000+ movies so they would be in Plex, but decided it was loads easier just to get them through "other" means.
